I received an email from my indeed account offering me a job for Pepper Tree Hospitality Group as a customer service personnel. I had to answer some basic questions about customer service and later was told they were interested. I got an offer letter with detailed information about benefits. The name given was Travis Santillanes. The equipment to be used was named and hourly pay was mentioned. After signing the offer letter I hadn't heard from anyone. The start date came and went and 4 days later a text to my phone came across about a FED-EX delivery to my home. It's a check and I was to deposit it into my bank account and take $500 for bonus money. The total of the check was $4862.00 and after taking the bonus money I was to purchase the equipment with the rest of the money. The group name on the check was Nevell Group Inc 3001 Enterprise St Brea, Ca. 92821 and the bank was Pacific Western Bank also out of Brea, Ca.. I asked in the text why hasn't anyone been in touch with me and I was texted back that due to technological difficulties affecting the business we would only be able to reach each other by email or text. Their previous website and emails were taken offline for maintenance and they were working nonstop to find a solution so that operations could resume as usual. I ripped that fake check up and stopped communicating because a company that wants you to work remote sends their equipment not a check to purchase equipment.
