Type of a scam Romance
They asked me for my phone number, and I never gave it to them out of skepticism, but I ended up messaging them through Snapchat. After the transition of apps, they immediately want to pay my credit card debt off completely. And being ignorant of technology, I allowed myself to add their bank routing number to my credit card and they said to "pay off your credit card", and I didn't quite understand and when I did, I saw that my CC was all paid off. I was shocked at it and then the odd requests started to happen. I was asked to buy gift cards for them. Their "reasons" were that they claimed that wanted to reward their employees. (For background, they claimed that their business started because of covid, and I'm assuming it "took off"...?)
So, after I bought said gift cards and sent them as pictures, I was feeling off, because I didn't know what they could've been used for. So, later I messaged that I didn't want any part of what they wanted to do or were doing, they claimed before to want "loyalty", and I said it was my loyalty that was why I couldn't do this. Then, I was requested to buy more gift cards and I thought that it would be over easily, but I was wrong. After sending them the second set of gift cards, they claim that removing their account and routing information could cause fraud and so forth. I was already scared as it is. So, they "had a solution, which would "fix it". I went along with it until I did further research and found out I was in a scam.
I was a fool to end up following along in this, and don't want others to make the same mistake I did, even if you were raised to "know better". Cut off all contact, and contact Better Business Bureau for help, because it was the right thing I did. NEVER give out any of your information, because that's where it could possibly get worse.
