I was contacted by a friend on face book (who apparently had his identity stolen) and told me to contact this phone number because when received his SBA donated money he say my name on the list of the 2019 winners. He said that the SBA has donors who pick people by random to give money to every year. So he gave me the number I provided, and Agent Bill Banks from SBA got right back to me saying yes I was a winner. All this time my supposed friend was talking to me on face book saying it was real, that he d received his money by Fed Ex and the bank said the check was real, and the check had cleared, he also said he received 100 thousand. Anyway then this agent said I needed to provide address, date of birth, job, salary, and cell phone number. That was when I was like no this sounds like a scam. But my friend kept assuring me it was real and legit. So me being stupid fell for it and gave him the info he was asking for. Of course then he said I needed to give him $300 for the delivery and taxes on the money. The whole time my friend is asking what was going on. I said I did not have that kind of money and I had no credit cards and no bank card. He kept trying to get the money and of course my fake friend was saying he had paid. I finally said NO give it to someone else cause I was not sending any money. Then I asked my friend to give me his phone number so I could call him, as I would know his voice. The number he gave me was 260 407 8367, but he said he was really busy and I could only text him, how convenient right. Then I put it together, the friend had his identity stolen on face book and this person was testing me and messengering me at the same time. So because of my stupidity I have froze my credit and enrolled in Identity Guard. I also have Credit Karma monitoring my credit report. I do not know how to tell face book about this. I have reached out to my real friend to let him know what has been going on with his name and face book account. I have also unfriended him. I have to say I am usually very vigilant about protecting my information, and have not heard of this kind of scam going on in face book. People need to be warned. I consider myself a smart person and if I fell for this, well partly, so might others. I am not sure what they can o with the info I gave them but I have protected myself I hope. Like I said I did not sent any money or financial numbers credit card info. Just wanted to let you know what happened to me on a Sunday afternoon. If you want I can somehow try to copy all the correspondence if you would like it let me know. The reason I put in PA as the scammers state is because I did a reverse phone number lookup and it said PA.
