It started off fairly normal with few red flags. I got a text saying that they'd like to conduct an interview with me for a video editing job I applied to. Being a filmmaker it made sense so I followed up and they sent and email briefing the job responsibilities and pay and everything that went along with the opportunity. The job has a pay of $55/hr so, reasonably, I was excited. Everything seemed legit, they had a website, the email seemed well put together, it seemed okay. Then I was asked to conduct the first interview on a secure messaging app called Wire, which I had never heard of. The interview process raised more red flags for me because of the fact that it was so brief for what I was told was a big company. They then had someone call me about the position and that call was very strange and seemingly from someone who didn't speak english very well. I looked up the website on a website validator, nothing. I looked up the phone number the called me from to see if it was associated with any scams, nothing. There was quite literally nothing to be found about this company, even on this website. The part that made me stop engaging with them was when they asked me to sign up for an apple card with $500. I was confused but the more I asked questions the more they brushed them off. Eventually they stopped answering me after I assume they realized that I wasn't buying it anymore. Luckily I didn't engage in the purchase but if someone wasn't on high alert or doing their due diligence it could easily be seen as a legit company.
