Scam Government Website Reports & Reviews (1)

- Oak Park, IL, USA • Dec 19, 2024

I was forwarded the www.BOIR.org website from a trusted person. It has the federal bureau bird and circular seal that appears to be a government website urging business owners to file a beneficial ownership information report. It requested for me to submit a webform with my full name, email address, phone number, company name, Tax ID number and my driver's license charging a fee of $249. I completed the form on 11/20/2024 and submitted payment with my company card. My credit card initially flagged the charge but I thought it was because I rarely use the card so I approved the purchase. About 4 weeks later I received fraudulent charges to my company card on 12/15/2024, 12/16/2024, and 12/17/2024 totaling over to ****** with purchases to FanDuel, BestBuy, and Saks Fifth. When you attempt to call the business it sends you back to an email and there is no physical address noted on the site. It also has in fine print that it is not affiliated with the government with the forwarding information to the actually site you can file independently. However the overall site mimics many of the US government financial reporting sites and is misleading. Please be aware of this scam and avoid sending any one to this website www.boir.org the correct website is FinCEN at www.fincen.gov.
