I received a phone call from a guy stating he was calling from Baltimore City Central Booking and that my niece was pulled over for speeding and got detained for unpaid tickets in the amount of $974. He said that she could pay it herself through CashApp but she's not allowed to use her phone while being detained and that she needed someone to pay some of the fine ($442) for her or she would be detained all weekend and she was running out of time today to resolve the matter and be released. So I asked to speak with her to actually identify her and he claimed there wouldn't be enough time for them to get her to the phone. So he pretended he was speaking to others to obtain some identifying info from her that only her and myself would know. He than gave me my mother's name and my nickname to supposedly identify her. I made sure I did not confirm if that info was correct or not. He kept elaborating that we needed to hurry before her time ran out. I asked him if I could just bring cash down to them and he said they're not taking cash right now. I than told him that I would look into the matter and give him a call back and ended the call.

I than called my niece and she is having a normal day at work. I warned her to let all other relative and friends know that they are trying to use her name for a scam. I called the # back and he answered like he was at Central Booking. I told him that I know he's a scammer and I am reporting it and he just hung up in my air. My niece also informed that she received a warning that someone had failed attempts at excessing her account earlier today.
