There is an Instagram profile that displays previous buyers pictures of the products. Lists their website link. Then several fake Instagram accounts that appear to be ‘reps’ share the link to scarfandtail via direct message. They respond via direct message. Company claims to give you a promo code for free scarfs in exchange for your dog pictures wearing the product. The scam is that you pay for the shipping. If you increase your scarf order for example from 3 to 4 scarfs your shipping goes up.

Was initially messaged on Instagram by someone who claimed to work for Scarf & Tail, who said to message their official account for a free product to be a pet ambassador for the brand (take photos of their product and promote on Instagram) and to just pay shipping. Upon looking back, it appears that this account might be a bot and not a real person.

When messaging the official account, they gave me a code to get a free product, then said I would just pay shipping. Shipping was very expensive, so I only added one product to the cart and the total was $12.95. I paid for the product with a credit card, and placed the order on April 23. The order has still not been shipped (I can see through Shopify) and when I tried to email [email protected] (the contact they list on their website and Instagram) it always comes back as a dead email. I also tried to message both the first contact and the official brand directly through Instagram, no response. I did some recent research, and others have found that the shipping comes from Shenzhen, China, despite the company saying they are a small business based in San Francisco, CA. This would explain the high shipping costs and the long time to process orders.
