He allegedly received the building permit and we asked our tenant to leave to start work.
We paid him to start the project and order materials. After he demolished the house the wok stopped. He lied about why he could not continue the project.
We then received a violation letter from the city that we did not have the building permit amongst other violations.
Scammer insisted he had the permit and the violations in question were already corrected.
A couple of months went by with no work. I finally called the city inspector myself and found out that we still did not have the permit and the violations were not corrected.
Due to his fraudulent claims about receiving a permit when he didn’t, we lost $50,000 in rent, and an additional $157,000 paid for work not performed and materials not delivered.
