- Dallas, TX, USA • Oct 15, 2024

I was offered a job. I got an email to officially sign on to the job along with a check to deposit that was meant to be used to buy office equipment with. They originally tried to mail the check to me, but that was taking to long due to weather. They made the entire process clear, step by step, asking if I understood the directions before moving on to the next step. They used multiple emails to make it more convincing, the first email being with "HR" ([email protected]) and the second email being from "Finance" ([email protected]). The check that was emailed was deposited and then they told me to send $2,300 of it to a certain account under the name of Raymond Joseph. Luckily my bank caught it, and flagged it. After sending the $2,300, I haven't heard from them since.
