Just went through same scam, except "his" name was David Roten. Reading through this page verifies that it indeed was a scam, as sounds almost identical to others on this page; just different address and state. Truly hope they get caught and locked up.

This "David" person had this ad:

The house as been locked for now base on security reason and i have the keys down here with me so You can only Drive by Immediately and check out the exterior !

This the REAL Scott Tatge. These A-Holes have stolen my ID and are pretending to be me. I do live in Kansas, but I have lived here since 1997. This SOB has been pretending to be me in order to steal from others. I have filed a police report with my local police and with the FBI. Listed a cottage in Brewster, NY for $1000 with all utilities included. Says he's in Kansas for 5-6 years, the keys are with him and to go check out the place "but don't mind the realtor sign out front". I didn't give him any information. I'm sorry to all who have dealt with this POS. I hope you see these testimonies

Has a house listed on Craigslist in Brewster NY. Same email as above. I went by that house and there is still someone there. He called and sent a rental application. Broken english, very bad connection like it wasn't really comming from Kansas! Yea, it is a scam. Didn't give him anything.

(Email received today from Scott) 'Thanks for responding and I am sorry for my late reply. I am replying in regards to my property I have for rent. Yes it is still available. Actually I am currently living in Kansas because of my transfer to head as a branch manager of the newly opened branch of the construction company. I work with and i will be here for 5 to 6 years that is why am renting out the property. We need a responsible, dedicated, committed and trustworthy person that will take very good care of the property, that is why am renting out my property and it is available for immediate move in. However, my initial plan was to sell or rent the house through the realtor but it was not successful because i have bad experience dealing with the Realtor before leaving the City so never mind if you see the realtor sign in front of the house, Have already decide to handle everything my self, so there is no need to contact any Realtor. The property is strategically located in a very cool and lovely environment.

Same as most of the stories - posted an ad about a house in Plymouth Meeting because he would be displaced for 5-6 years. He stopped answering once I started asking to see the house and more questions about the terms. I then did research, and found this page amongst other information about the house that did not align with his story. Hopefully he doesn’t scam anyone else.

Scott had a listing on Craigslist for 1711 Luzerne St. in Scranton, PA. I saw this posting on Zillow for $1200 but then quickly went off market. A week later, I see his posting for the house at $700. He was overtly trying to make himself seem like a Christian and that he used to live in the home before a job transfer to Kansas for a construction company. I sent in my application but then found this complaint of him. I had to give my driver’s license #, make, model, year of car and my home address. Hopefully no identity fraud occurs but he asked me to supply the deposit in full before sending the keys. He told me he’d send keys AFTER I provide him & his wife with full payment. Lots of grammatical errors and in application & e-mail. Luckily I did not send any money.

Scott Tatge just gave me the same story for a property in Hackettstown NJ. The ad was on Craig list and has been pulled. I did NOT send him any $$ also.What a shame that someone is acting this way. Thank you for posting this report.

Stated he owns 1206 Ohio Ave in Monaca, PA 15061 (listed on Craigslist) and would rent to me for $800 security deposit and $900 per month rent, all utilities included. He does not own the property and after I paid, stopped communication. I have copies of the lease I signed, his Ks driver license, and international passport, and all the Google Play and Amazon cards I sent him along with receipts. Total paid and lost, $2600. for first and last month's rent and the security deposit. I hope he is stopped from doing this to any other person, especially one with limited income, like myself.
