In response to a direct mailer, I called for someone to give an estimate to repave our driveway. The person arrived, hours late, but was in communication. He provided an estimate saying, "This driveway should cost $7,200 to do but we are in the area so we will do it for $2,900 and can do this week...but don't tell your neighbors I gave you such a great deal." In fact, he (Danny) told us three times not to tell neighbors. We said OK to getting it done and scheduled it for two days later. In between time, I asked for a contract and their license number. I could not find out anything online about the company. Danny told me twice that the contract was coming and license number was on it. No contract sent. On the day to begin work it was a big NO SHOW. It felt like a scam that my extra insistence to get verification from them made them drop me like a hot potatoe. The direct mailer is professionally done, but the company was flakey.
