Select Kart scam

My friend was looking online for a plumber and clicked on a link. At that moment she received a message that her computer was hacked. She had no more control over the computer, no cursor, nothing worked. It looked like there was a message from Apple support and called the number in the message. She was “helped” by heavily accented and difficult to understand “technicians” who kept her on the line a long time and tried to convince her to buy a Firewall for the price of $1150 for 3 years. The “help” they provided would cost $350. It became really suspicious when they wanted a check sent to a mailing address and a photo of the check. They use Any Desk to take over your computer. Thanks to everyone who posted here, that is how we avoided sending them money.

Select Kart fixed my computer after it was compromised and wanted a check for $1486.I put a hold on the check.Now after 5 months I received a call from New Brunswick stating $9800 with be taken from my account for lifetime security according to the billing dept wanting me to call them back

Select Kart- Virus Repair

Same message. Popup on my computer- flashing lights and loud beeping. Page frozen. Called the microsoft number and allowed access. They wrote an invoice in notes for fixes supposedly for $395. Did not agree or sign anything. they said to not touch my computer. Hung up, contacted McAfee to run a check. They now call daily to get paid.
