Sentara Medical Group Imposter - Employment Scam Reports & Reviews (3)

Although I am looking for a job, I am skipping this one due to several red flags:

Joshua did not give his full name

There are grammatical errors in the text message.

A HIPAA compliant healthcare system does not use a free/personal outlook.com account as an email provider.

On June 16, 2023, I received a text message from "Joshua" from Sentara Medical Group stating that my resume has been approved by their company for a medical biller position and to contact the HR manager by searching the email sentaramedical101@outlook. Also to send a message and my interview code was AHEL012. The pay is $30/hr after training. Before training it is $ 20/ hr. I have filled out tons of applications, so I didn't think anything of it until today 8/8/2023. I sent an email the very next day 6/17/2023 to the provided email as "Joshua" told me too. "They" (no name provided) asked me if I was ready to proceed. I told them yes but I could not talk until noon because I was at work and that it was hard to message them back right away. A couple of weeks had passed before I had said anything to them. On 7/31/2023, I asked if the job opportunity was still available. I was told yes and that I would receive a link to fill out before we proceed. I finally received a link to continue filling out the application and to prepare for a zoom link to do an interview. https://form.jotform.com/232123222876418. I clicked on the link and it said form not found (this form is disabled). I let them know that. They said that they were going to send me a new form but never did. At that time I didn't know but I so happen to look through my text messages and saw the interview code. So I gave it to them on Friday August 4, 2023 . They sent me a long job description about the company will provide me with equipment to start training, I will do training for 1-2 weeks and work 30-40 hours weekly. The next step was to answer qualifying questions which were the interview questions and that I had 10 minutes to answer each set.

SET 1.) Briefly describe my work experience, what is my clerical speed (wpm), Do I work under pressure and 3 words to describe my self.

SET 2.) What am I most proud of, professional reference, what phone carrier I was with and for how long (post or prepaid plan), Tell why would I be the right person for the job and to see what bank I used to see if it tallies with the company salary account.

SET3.) Do I currently have a job and what position, Am I seeking full/part time position, what is privacy/code of conduct, what company I worked for and how long, and where do I see myself in 5 years.

I answered all the questions. The person told me I that I had done impressively well and that I would be a good fit for the company. They would forward our conversation to the company head department to enable them to see if I was qualified for the job and that I needed to reach back out to them in 15 minutes for an update. I responded back about 20-30 minutes later to see if they heard anything. They sent me a "congratulations" message via teams stated that they would like to offer me the position and told me about the benefits they offer. In the last paragraph, it said that I would be enrolled in the benefits 1-2 months after working with them and that they would be communicating through messenger/Telegram till after 7 days of working with them. After they were done updating their website, they would include me a link to their server, and a list numbers of various departments. They need my name, address, email and phone number. I gave it to them. Then they sent me another message stating that the company would email me a check for my work material, did I have a printer and what was my mobile deposit limit and that I would be required to deposit the check through my mobile app and the funds would be available the same day or next day. I ask for the start date. Totally ignored my question. Red flags immediately went off!!!! So at this point I started to play dumb. I told them I usually cash my checks at the bank. They asked me if I used the mobile bank. I told them I do but I take my checks to the banks. They then said that the check would be sent to my email and all I had to do was print it off and then deposit it via the mobile app. I lied and said that I would print it off and asked again when was the start date and what equipment was I receiving. Again ignored my questions. They asked me again what was my mobile deposit limit. At that point, I was like ok this is most definitely a scam. I said I don't think I have one (playing dumb) and was there a number I could call them. And their response was "call to confirm your mobile deposit limit?" I said to call you and where were they located. As of 7:45 pm on August 8/2023. No response! I hope I did not set myself or my family up for failure!!!

I applied for the job remote Health Coach through LinkedIn, because Sentara Medical Group was hiring remote Health Coaches.
