I also received “employment” from a linked in ad with the company Horizon Realty of Alachula. Inc. they put in lots of efforts for this scam and have lots of fake linked in profiles making it look legit. I was contacted by Joan Soroka to help with a translation for the company. She said to contact HR giving me the [email protected] email to contact and send my resume. They sent me a long document to translate from Spanish to English. After agreeing on a price they asked for my name, phone number, home address and who I bank with. They said they would send a check in the mail. This was the last email I got from them: It is with a heavy heart that I must inform you of a recent bereavement in the sponsor's family. Despite this, I am pleased to convey that your payment has been dispatched by my sponsor and is scheduled for delivery next week. Additionally, we have deliberated on including you in the upcoming phase of this project; however, I require assurance that the initial phase has been adequately interpreted. To prevent any further delays in payment, the supplementary fee for the subsequent project phase has been incorporated into the payment you are due to receive. We have factored in the cost of the first phase and the next document at your rate, totaling $3,987.55, which is the sum indicated on the check. Time is of the essence, and I am providing the necessary details for your reference.

Amount on check: $3,987.55

Kindly confirm with me as soon as you receive the payment. I hope to hear from you soon. DON’T BELIEVE THEM! Report them on the website.

I'm currently unemployed and doing job searching on websites such as Indeed.com and ZipRecruiter.com, where the initial website is the place where I first found the job ad for a Office Assistant for Serio & Serio. Not much information from the ad was given, besides I'd be a personal assistant working remotely with potential to showcase and grow my skills. I received back a message through Indeed from someone unnamed asking that I resubmit my resume, name, and phone number for contact to [email protected] only two days after my application. I did such, without any skepticism, and after about 4 days, I received a reply from "Randy Heisler", who is named to be HR manager from email signatures and listed as only one out of the 4 employees of Serio & Serio's website, https://lawsfk.com. Randy had mentioned that due to necessary immediate hiring, there wouldn't be any physical interviews, but that he'd still like me to reply to the email as a written interview, along with again, asking for my name, phone number, home address, employment information, and availability. At this point, I became skeptical, as I'd already given my resume twice, so why would I be asked again for my basic information. I begun looking into Serio & Serio, starting with the listed website, which is a very noticeable template of a brand new website. It was registered in 2024, under a GoDaddy website builder, where beyond the names and information given in the "Our team" section of about us, everything is templated in place. Testimonies are examples, which if any of the titles of the testimonies are put into google, the first page brings up 30+ of similar formatted websites, made with GoDaddy website builders, all within recent years, but all kinds of different law firm names. None of the employees on Serio & Serio are findable on respectable job sites like LinkedIn, which was interesting with the idea of a small law firm not trying to make connections of sort. Last resort was that I searched the email of Randy, which lead me to a Scam Tracker here on BBB, which made me realize that I would do best by sharing my experience and research to help prevent others from potentially going down a worse rabbit hole than I have. Please be cautious with job searching, there are easy ways to trick people, but if something doesn't feel right, please walk away like I am today.
