On 4/9/2022, the transport company US Pet Transport contacted me via the email address [email protected] with tracking info for the puppy indicating he was picked up at 9:00 am from the breeder and is scheduled to board a flight at 1:00 pm. Another email, followed by a phone call from the number (539) 207-3357 indicating that a $1500 refundable insurance policy needed to be purchased prior to boarding the plane in case of an accident during transport. I asked questions, and the responses I received did not seem suspcious. I contacted the breeder and asked about the policy, and he said it was legitimate and the money would be refunded upon delivery. He had mentioned in a previous email that he worked with this transport company before. I believed the breeder was trustworthy, so I paid for the insurance. I sent a digital payment transfer through of $1500.00 US dollar with Zelle to [email protected].
As I waited for confirmation about my pup's flight, I receive another email from the transport company saying that to avoid delay I need to rent a crate for my puppy, which cost up to $2000. When I reply that my contract included an airline approved crate, the transport company calls me trying to convince me that the crate from the breeder was unsuitable. I again ask a lot of questions, but now, the responses are not consistent and are too general. When I asked where my pup is now and request a picture, I get a video of a drugged up looking dog on the same kitchen tile as seen in previous photos provided by the breeder. I request for delivery to be cancelled and the dog to be returned to the breeder. I request a refund for the insurance policy immediately. That is the end of our communication.
I contact the breeder and informing him of my problems with the transport company. I inform him that I will make immediate arrangements to transport the pup from his residence to my home. I request additional info so I can provide it to my own transport company, and he is sends me an email saying "okay, I will let you." The breeder who supposedly cared so much about his pup basically blows me off. I called the phone number on the website multiple times receiving no answer. I email him again hours later, no reply. I do not expect to hear from "Mr. Anthony Davis" again.
