I received a call 9/9 at 7:43 am from a man identifying himself as Deputy Davenport badge #8932. Phone #850-299-1130. He identified me by name and informed me that he knew I had county jury service last week and indicated that I had received a federal jury summons for Aug 28 in which I failed to appear. He indicted the summons was signed for by someone at my address and that I current have two warrants out for my arrest for failure to appear and contempt. I was told that he needed to remain on the phone with me until I made payment in the amount of $500 via a local money center (cashiers check or money order) and appeared at his office. He said that he knew I did not have a criminal record and that last week I had appeared for jury duty in circuit criminal court. He indicated payment needed to be made to FDIC in order for me to get a DNR for my outstanding warrants. I do know know what FDIC and DNR indicate regarding federal legal information. I explained to the man that I had to pick my grandson up and he indicated I would not be able to end the call otherwise he would go forward with processing my warrants. When I went to pick my grandson up I used my daughters phone to call the Escambia county sheriffs department to verify his name and badge number and that this was not a scam. Holly at ECSD indicated this was a scam and gave me the ScamPulse.com information to report the scam. Some additional information: he said I would have to bring 3 forms of ID to verify my name, signature and residence and provide a signature to indicate that I was not the individual who signed for the jury summons. He required me to go to Walmart money center then come to his office. He did not provide me with an address to report to after obtaining the form of payment. After I confirmed it was a scam I brought in back on the line off mute and confronted him. He hung up without saying another word.
