Type of a scam Online Purchase
I searched google for shiba inu puppies and this was the first website that came up on the search. I read through the website and decided to send a request for a shiba inu male puppy named Leo. I asked if the puppy was available for purchase and let them know that I already had a shiba that I had purchased a few years back from another breeder.
I think received and email back from [email protected] that included more pictures of the puppy and information for the agreement since he was available. It was reported that they had another litter so they wanted to get these puppies into a new home quickly. It was recommended to have the puppy sent by air for the easiest and fastest delivery.
I completed the form and it was advised that payment could be sent via Zelle or cash app. The puppy would be $850 with a home delivery fee of $50. Once the payment t was received I would get a follow up email for the delivery and flight details. The seller, Sam, gave me the zelle information via email below:
Email: [email protected]
Name:Abraham ben Kere
The payment t was sent through and all seemed well.
The next day I received an email from American Sweft Airways with the delivery details but then was told that there was a $950 refundable fee that had to be paid ([email protected]). They stated that due to Covid-19 and other issues that a different carrier was needed. Once the puppy was deliver and the carrier back with the airline, the refund would be issues. I received a text message (+1-330-303-1378) from the delivery service advising of the same. They had the wrong puppy details so I then immediately reach out to the seller.
The seller said not to worried and that he didnt know about the additional fee. Once the payment is provided then the puppy would be sent.
The deliver service then asked that I send payment via Zelle to Cheick Djire with email [email protected]. This address did not work so they then advised to sent to Damien Ngu at email address [email protected] which did work but my bank said it would have to be sent with 1-3 business days. I relayed this to them and they then said that they would need payment before sending out the puppy. It was advised that they had a partnership with vanilla and Ebay. So a prepaid card could be purchased and pictures taken to verify the payment of $950.
Of course, this is when I asked the seller to contact me because I was no longer comfortable with sending payment. I asked if we was confident in this deliver services which he said that he was and that he didnt not have any issues with his continued buys. I told the deliver service I would not send via prepaid card and they said I could do cash app instead.
I then texted messages the seller, Sam, back and told him that my husband thought this was a scam since there was 2 cases reported when searching the internet for this deliver service. He immediately said he couldnt believe I would say that and said we could work this out. I told him I believe the seller to need to make this payment since this was not in our contract agreement. I recommend he add this fee to his future contract if this was actually the case. If he would agree then I would be ok with continuing the transaction. He stated that he did not have this money. So then I text and emailed to refund the $900 payment as the agreed amount was wrong and that we are no longer confident with purchasing this puppy. I have not heard back since at this time.
I tried to call the number for the deliver service listed in the email but could not get through (512-575-3572). I then went online to their website (https://americansweftairways.com/) and trying call that number but it just asked to leave a message (+1 757-204-1897).
All in all, it seems as if the seller and the delivery service are either the same person or in cohorts with one another on scamming for puppies. I am going to do all I can so that no one else falls into this trap. I contacted the previous seller where I had purchased my current shiba online. I know that she is a reputable source even though she does transact via a online portal.
It is very disappoint to go through this but even more upsetting that this is surrounded with people taking advantage of our better nature as pet owners. I will be reaching out to report this issue to other platforms so that this seller and deliver service is found.
