My father was emailed and then called by someone pretending to work for Norton and that his security software subscription had expired. From there it turned into them stating they had accidentally refunded my father $5000 to his account and he owed them the money. The best way to refund the money was through gift cards. Over the course of two days my father bought and sent them $8000 in target and apple gift cards.
