I received two emails today May 18th, 2021 both at 3:18pm MST from [email protected] - I have never used nor heard of this company and I never provided them with my email address, but the email I received asked me to click on a link to authorize updating my email address. Again, I do NOT have an account with this company and have never done any business with them. I did NOT click the link, but I received a second follow-up email within seconds of the first email which stated that my email address was updated successfully.

I did not click the link in the email, but I assume that if I had clicked the link, they would have asked for personal information such as a password, so I am under the impression this is a phishing scam.

If it is not a phishing scam, another alternative is that the company found a list of email addresses online and is fraudulently signing them up for accounts in order to artificially inflate their subscription numbers. I contacted the support email listed on their website at https://simplenote.com letting them know that they do NOT have authorization to use my email address and that I do not have an account with them, and have yet to receive a response.
