Representative comes door to door stating "the government" is about to phase out baseboard heaters and that his company is here to help you find a grant from BC Hydro to cut your heating bills in half so that you can purchase and have installed a heat pump "tomorrow" if you sign the contract. They claim they can sell a heat pump for $179.99 and do not have to charge for labour as they will install in bulk for the entire block. Many report on line that this "company" is notorious for this scam and do not have qualified personnel to install the heat pump nor is the equipment of good quality. I could not find anywhere on line that said the BC or Canadian gov't is banning electric baseboard heaters. On the contrary, for example, Ontario is encouraging homeowners to shift from natural gas to electricity for home heating. Note, I did not fall for the line and sent the representative packing.
