This was where I started to get suspicious. I kept messaging them, but was waiting for the other shoe to drop. They eventually gave me a phone number to call in order to get my grant money. At that point I asked if this was really the person that I knew and asked them to verify how we knew each other. The answer they gave me was general (you're a family friend), but I'm fairly certain this individual would remember who I actually was and how we met.
I told them that I believed this to be a scam and I wouldn't be calling anyone. From then on they continued to insist that this was a "legit" grant and even sent me a picture of all their cash laid out on the bed. Still nothing that actually proved anyone. When I began poking holes in their story they got defensive. I've since reached out to other people that know this individual with my suspicions. I'm waiting to hear back, but they all agree that this doesn't sound like them.

CONGRATULATIONS, My name is Carla Mewborn, I work for Small Business Administration. I'm so pleased to explain this to you that SMALL BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION AWARD PROMO $ BIG BALL MANAGEMENT IN COLLABORATION WITH FEDERAL COMMISSION ORGANIZATION. We recover the sum of 1 billion dollars yearly which we use to support the charity and to assist people. It is for the retired, semi-retired, working and unemployed. We give $100,000.00 to everyone selected randomly through their email for the 2018/2019 lottery bonus, we select people without notifying the lucky winner through our balloting system and you happen to be among those very lucky winners. I’ll like to know if you're ready and willing to get your own money qdeliver to you and we let you know more about Small Business Administration(SBA). Are you ready to claim your winning money with us?"
I immediately thought this was some sort of scam they pulled my phone number off of a listing on something I was selling online.
I poked and prodded for information about the BSA and who I could contact to figure out the legitimacy of this program. They refused to get me any information. I just simply looked up the grant policy of the SBA and find that they don't give ANY grants. They only do business loans. (what a shocker)
