Same as above with a different vehicle. Seller was “Frank Mosher” who was a “driller in the Middle East. Salesman was “Peter” at Double Z in Buckhannon, WV. I was lucky and caught it as a scam at the last minute. The website doublezautosalestruckingllc.com is registered in the Bahamas.

I should have known better.

Peter Samarion got my wife and I for a chunk of money (28,770) saved for years, my 70th birthday present for 1970 ss chevelle. We dreamed of having Sunday rides in this car with grandchildren. Now we cannot afford this final dream car. Unbelievable how they destroy people. The money I have left I am willing to spend on a class action, if anyone is interested. Droust auto sales in Maine was the supposed company that was going to protect our purchase. They are registered in Maine but when you call the number they give you after wiring money, it is disconnected. Using google earth, you find a house with junk cars in the front yard. I will contact the Maine AG and then FBI suggested in a message above (unless the FBI is too busy chasing white terrorist). What we need to do is all of us exchange info so we can jointly go after them. We will also contact Chase bank to pursue wire fraud.

There are several things I see over and over - someone dies, the car is never available for inspection because it is crated, you never see the VIN, the person is unreachable because they are out of country, and they usual end e-mails with “be safe” (which I assume is quite a funny joke for them). I will leave my website and e-mail address in case we decide to band together on this! If anyone has the capability, we could fund the development of a website of people dedicating to finding them.

TO ANYONE USING TROVIT to gather all car ads beware! Since they just gather ads, these people are all over this site. Since being scammed I found 3 more ads from these lowlife criminals. They include the same Diamond Drilling scam (1970 chevelle ss), a woman named Barbara who claims her husband died and is selling the car to pay her bills as a single mom (chevelle ss red, 1970) and a guy with a 1967 GTO, (another Andrew B with a dead father). I will keep track of these people and post everything on here.

Unfortunately, this group got my father on a 55 "gasser". So far we have not been able to retrieve the money. I reported the site's fraudulent activity to the domain registrar and the domain has been suspended.

Was looking for a Classic Corvette. My suspicion was from the get go. The price was too low. But I still checked it out on line. Found it on a https://usclassifieds4all.com. Random google search. Emailed the seller. A few days later i get a reply. Saying he works offshore and can't use a cell. Then he sends me this email after a few more back and fourths.

Hello Mike,

Would you like to see more pictures?
Here is my phone# +1 (304) 757-5484. But due to the nature of my work, I can't receive or make calls as I am currently offshore. I can only communicate via email or text messages at the moment, I hope you understand. But I can give you the phone # for the sales representative and he can help you with information about the sale.
I'm sorry for this late response but I was out of civilization and I had no internet connection. I am working offshore and I don't know when I will return. The car is located at the auto broker in Martinsburg, WV stored inside and ready to go. The car belonged to my father who recently passed away. He was the second owner. The car, the title, two sets of keys, manuals and some service history records is what you will get from the auto broker. I arranged for the sale right before I left, so all set on my end. I propose to close the deal through an auto broker, in the most safe and easiest way possible for both of us. Basically, it's similar to buying a car locally, the money will be sent to their holding account, and they will keep the money until you receive the car. After the car is delivered, you will have a 7 days inspection period before you decide if you wish to keep it or not. If you are serious about buying the car, I will ship it anywhere with no extra cost. If you want to move forward please contact me back so we can get the ball rolling.

Thank you and stay safe,

It even had a photo of an offshore drilling platform and confidentiality disclaimer.

The add has the car listed in Maywood Ca. He tells me its West Virginia. I question him on this and this was his reply is this.

Hello Mike,
I paid an advertising company to handle the listings for me. They said they listed it on several locations, websites, newspapers and magazines in order to increase my selling chances. I'm really sorry for the confusion, but it's not actually my fault.
Let me explain to you how everything works. You register on the company broker website that I work with. They will send some documents for you to sign and send them back. After that you will pay them and they will start the shipping. You will receive the car at your location and you will have an inspection period of 7 days to test drive the car and check it with a mechanic. If the car will be as I said I will get paid, otherwise you will receive a full refund within 24 hours. Shipping back will be on me. I've been using their services for over 4 years and I love their services because they are very good.
Ready to proceed?
Thank you and stay safe,

I did a little more searching on the web. The guy even has a fake linkedin account or is using a real persons name from a oil drilling company.

The old saying, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is...

Hope this helps others.

Type of scam Online Purchase

Executive Auto Sales : scam purchased a 1964 Impala SS and never received car. Money was wired to their bank, now I'm out of my money nothing can be done this issue. Be careful out there when buying online, I learn the hard way.

Hu Reymundo. We are in the same predicament... Why couldn't you get the money back? Did you contact the banks?

This scam is getting more sophisticated! BEWARE!

I have been searching for a classic truck and found an ad on an obscure ad hosting site (https://usclassifieds4all.com/details.php?id=2929250&listing=353118). This was the kind of truck I would like to purchase so I used the web page form to "contact the seller" so that I could set up an inspection.

I got a note back a day or two later but here is where the sophistication is apparently at a new level. The email address was from someone impersonating an army officer who is currently deployed to Poland. They used a gmail address with a real person's name and rank so I though I would check it out just to be safe. I did a Google search and found plenty of information about the real person and was even able to confirm that they were deployed to Poland. The emails all seemed real and believable but something just did not feel right so I dug a little deeper.

The first clue was that the email from the seller said the vehicle was located in Fort Bragg, NC which would match the seller's location. However, if you look at the ad for the truck, you will see that it is reportedly located in Bottineau, ND. If you then look at the truck, you will see the vehicle is licensed in Massachusetts. All of that is possible but obviously highly unlikely.

Here is the first email response I received when I made my initial inquiry:

Hello there!

The car is still for sale and the price is $14,700. The car will come with a clean title, two sets of keys, manuals and some service history records. The vehicle was recently serviced and is ready for the road. The car is in perfect running condition and has never been involved in an accident, floor or fire.
I've been recently deployed to Poland with the 82nd Airborne Division Team. I don't know for how long we are staying here and I have arranged for the sale of the vehicle through an auto consignment company. The car is located in Fort Bragg, NC sealed and ready to go. If you want to find out more details about how we can close up this deal, or if you want more pictures do not hesitate to contact me and I will respond at my earliest convenience.

Thank you,
Command Sgt. Maj. (name removed to protect privacy)
82nd Airborne Division

I responded to this email asking for more pictures and wanted to arrange an inspection. Here is the reply:

Hello again,

The auto consignment company is Executive Auto Sales and their website is https://www.executiveautomobilesales.com/

They are a consignment service for large items mostly. Take a quick look at their website. It should give you an idea of how they work and how they handle these sales. If you want to purchase the car and pick it up by yourself or to simply perform an inspection, you have to contact the company and schedule an appointment. May I know where you are located?

In case you are too far away and want it delivered, I already have shipping covered, based on their policy, shipping is the seller's responsibility.

So that's the essentially buying process, but I should also mention their Pre Delivery Inspection you get at delivery and their 7-day money-back guarantee that follows, which costs nothing and should give you a chance and time to decide on the car. The pre-delivery inspection will have an EAS representative on-site who should answer your questions, show that everything works and sign the necessary delivery papers. The car was pre-inspected before being listed for sale and passed their inspection flawlessly. More details may be found on the 7-Day Money Back Guarantee page. More exactly, if the car won't be as I've described, EAS will take it back and automatically refund your money. The cost of having it returned would come out of my pocket. So, considering what I've just mentioned, would I sell something that it's not as I have described, knowing that the chances to have it returned are high? If there was anything wrong with it or anything worth mentioning, I would say it for sure. The process is free for Buyers. All fees associated with the transaction are the seller's responsibility. There are no hidden fees or taxes.

Now, if you opt for shipping, simply visit their web page and register. Once registered, I will be able to place a transaction and a bill of sale regardless of your recent purchase will be issued to you. Please let me know what you decide to do because I have other buyers interested and they are waiting for my response.

I have attached more pictures. Please check them.

Thank you,

82nd Airborne Division

My conclusion is that this is a scam. Beware that the email address used was a gmail address with a first and last name that matched up to a real person in the army who was actually deployed to Poland. I was able to verify all of this via a Google search but that also means the scammer could have just picked the info up with a news feed or a simple internet search. When I searched Google Maps, the street address ended up being a warehouse so that was somewhat believable at first. What ultimately fell apart was the reported location of the vehicle vs. the supposed location of the dealership/broker vs. the location of the vehicle reported in the listing vs. the state of the vehicle's registration. Too many broken links to be believable.

BEWARE! Do NOT send these people money!

Same as the other peoples stories but talked to our son and he commented sounded too good to be true.
It was posted in Edmond, Oklahoma which we happed to be at yesterday, so we thought we could run by and look at it.
Yeah, right!
The car was not there, in a totally different state.
But he would send all the pictures we wanted.

First email.
I'm sorry for this late response but I was out of civilization and I had no internet connection. I am working offshore and I don't know when I will return because of this coronavirus. The Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu is still for sale and the price is $16,000 with 31220 miles. The car is being sold as described, clear title, no mechanical or electrical issues, never damaged in an accident, flood, or fire. The car is ready for the road.
The car is located at the shipping company in Dover, DE crated and ready to go.
If you want to find out more details about how we can close up this deal or if you want more pictures, do not hesitate to contact me and I will respond at my earliest convenience.

These guys are shameless. My Husband and I are one of the luck ones that didn't give any money up but it's still disappointing that in this day & age that people are scamming hard working honest people. He had a beautiful 1960 Chevrolet Impala for $21,400 allegedly for sale. After doing some research we realized that it was a scam but not before signing the bill of sale but before the bank to bank wire transfer. I'm not sure how long or even if they can be stopped but I will post their information to all platforms I come across and report them to the necessary agencies to which I have been doing all morning. I hope it helps someone else before any money exchanges.

Thanks to this website, I cancelled my transaction before losing money. I recommend anyone burned by this scam, report it to the following; FBI Commerce Unit, IC3, FTC and DE AG.

I have attached a full set of pictures for you. Please check them.

My Husband and I just went through this with this scammer. We noticed a few red flags that were impossible to ignore. He is now using the Executive Auto Sales as the company and Micheal Sundstrom as the contact person. Same m.o. but saying that the company is in Wilmington De. I have reported them to FTC & IC3.

But these guys are good. Web site looks real, address in Google Maps Street View shows a warehouse, their fake Yelp and YellowPages sites are convincing (try looking them up on the real ones - not there).

They had nice pics of a '67 Chevelle convertible, black-on-black for $19,500. I got the EXACT same emails as listed here, from "Benjamin Buxton", yeah yeah, working out of country, his dad died, whatever. I got suspicious when I offered just $15K and they agreed, in order "to make a quick sale". No real person selling a car would do that, so I started searching on scam reporting sites. If you're reading this, I hope you found out in time.

Smartclassics.com website is exactly the same as capitalautosalesinc.com
i used a couple of different emails when replying. Got pretty much the story. IE out of town, register with website, they are an escrow like company, safe for both parties, will deliver when money is sent, 7 day return policy... ALL BS
Smartsales is supposedly in Virginia, capitalsales supposedly in Dover, DE
Same contact Michael Jacobsen.
Ask to have your inspector check out the car. You probably won't hear from them again. i didn't.

FRAUD! SCAM! WE WILL BE PURSING LEGAL ACTION! THIS IS NOT A REAL WEBSITE!! THEY TOOK OUR MONEY AND NEVER DELIVERED THE CAR!!

BBB Note: Upon review of the Smart Classic Sales, it revealed that this company has the same website as Norfolk Automobile Sales.

Hello I am Bill I also got scammed how did you start legal procedures? I am to old for this kind of
bs. Thank you

Same type of ad and once they got the money no contact. Seller was Jack Rollmann and broker Micheal Jacobson of smart classic sales. I thought I did my home work on this but obviously not good enough. Now I will try to recover this and initiate an investigation.

I hate to admit that I think I'm being scammed. Same email as above. Now using a seller named Andrew Armstrong who can communicate because he works on an oil rig. What a tough lesson. I'm too honest and trusting.

I saw an ad on Craigslist for a pretty cool older vehicle so I began correspondence through the site to ask a few more questions. After a fairly decent delay of a few weeks, someone emailed me back from my original note suggesting they worked overseas and weren't sure when they'd be back to the states, but are eager to sell the vehicle. They said it was their father's who recently passed away (somewhat believable given the times we're in). They then suggested corresponding via email since the ad was about to expire. I obliged and we exchanged several emails regarding questions about the vehicle. They were then prompt to respond once it seemed like I was serious, but added they work through a 3rd party to sell the vehicle and sent me the website: https://smartclassicsales.com/. They also sent links to Yelp and Yellow Page reviews probably anticipating I would be skeptical. When I went to the site, and clicked on the Yelp and Yellowpages links, they looked fake. I manually tried searching for the company on yelp and yellow pages and the company never came up. I then became increasingly skeptical and kept digging in. I went back to the links on the site and as I read the reviews, they all had 5 star ratings (seemed odd). I tried searching the name of the owner on Linked In, and even a couple names of those who were supposedly reviewers--nothing on any of them. I'm now assuming it's a scam but do have a phone call through to the individual who was given me to answer further questions about the vehicle. The Craigslist ad has been taken down, which to me is also a red flag.

BBB Note: Address listed for the company is for a recycling facility and the website was registered on 1/10/22 with the registrar being WhoisPrivacy Corp. out of the Bahamas.
