He said the puppy could be shipped the next day. I believed everything he said, because at the time, it was a little sketchy, but it seemed to check out. I was suspicious though because the price of the 10 week old puppy was only $600. He required $200 for shipping.
I had shipped a Westie before and was not alarmed.
I woke up in the middle of the night (after wiring him $800) after a dream I had that this was scam.
I was contacted the next morning by Prime Pet Ways about shipping. They told me that the puppy needed a thermal crate because of Covid 19. I have a vet friend and we had talked about dogs getting Covid and the vet said there are no known instances of dogs contracting the Corona Virus anad getting Covid, and no known instances of a dog giving Covid to a human.
They were requiring me to pay a deposit of $1200 for a thermal crate and stated I would get 90% of that back at the time of delivery.
I really got suspicious at that point. I called Prime Pet Ways and talked to a heavily-accented woman who stated that the puppy needed protection from Covid.
I told her that dogs don't get Covid. She said that the puppy needed to be protected from the air pressure. I told her that dogs and animals are shipped in warm, pressurized cabins. At this point she got angry and asked me if I wanted to protect my puppy. She said the puppy was already at the airport.
So I called United. Previously the website said the puppy would be shipped on Continental. I got really suspicious because United bought Continental years ago. In addition, and not surprisingly at that point, United said they were not shipping pets anymore.
So I called and canceled the whole thing. These crooks were incensed that I would cancel the shipment of the puppy. I told them both that I thought they were perpetrating a scam and I was cancelling the transaction.

I contacted my bank and Zelle who assure me I will get my money back
