I was minding my own business when an alarm sounded on my computer speakers saying, your computer network has a virus and to call a number for assistance. I called and was told my computer was infected and they could help me clean it out for a fee of $648.49. I was promised they would remove all junk files, remove all infections, remove all unwanted people, network firewall, security with three layers of protection, toll free number to call if I had any problems, and 100% resolution, and a 5 year security program. I agreed and gave them my credit card number and they would have to have all my personal information to assess my computer to fix the problem. I made a bad choice and gave them my SS#, email, birthday, phone #, and they accessed control of my cursor. They went to work, They said, and were running tests to see what was on my computer. They told me there were 15 people trying to access my computer at that time and some of them were from overseas, and that one of them was a child pronography site. In the process of charging me they accessed my PayPal account, telling me that PayPal was the safest way to send money. The scammer had control of my computer cursor and typed in "send money to a friend" in the amount of $669.15 to Joann*[email protected], and told me the extra $19.95 was a technician fee. Then he very quickly clicked on the repeat this transaction button and charged $669.15 again.

Then on July 3,2019, I called them back to ask for a refund of the second charge, then he told me he installed the security system twice and that was the reason for the second charge and he would refund $1400, and gave me a Refund Reference ID of XVCGFBHNJ852. Then he said he was Now seeing other issues on my computer, for instance, that there was someone in Afghanistan using my personal information to force a ten year old girl into posing for pornographic pictures and that I was the one paying for it. (I was panicked and worried and could not believe what I was hearing, but fell for it.) He told me in order to fix the problem, I would have to go to Dollar General and pay again with a gift card, which I did, not only once but three times for the total cost of $2,500.

(I am on Social Security). When I finally called my regular computer guy and found out it was a scam, I had spent $2,000 in cash, $500 on a credit card and 1400 on Pay Pal. To say the least I am humiliated and sorry for following those instructions, not to mention BROKE! Please do all you can to catch these horrible people. I believe they are still active and I received a suspicious phoone call again today from a lady with a foreign accent telling me she was calling about my computer service, I hung up!
