Purchased GE refrigerator water filters that are counterfeits (no RFID on the filters, don't fit my refrigerator)

I purchased a set of 3 water filters that were clearly labeled as “official” with easy returns and easy installation. However, upon receipt, they did not work with my fridge and I was told I had to “hack” (remove and reuse) the RFID chip from my existing water filter for it to work properly. I requested a refund, but the seller offered only a partial refund. Ultimately, PayPal covered the purchase with their buyer protection program. There are others online who have posted about this scam with very similar experiences.

Seller is advertising XWFE filters but selling XWF filters. The "E" version has a DRM FRID tag the GE uses to force people to buy their genuine filters. The product is labeled correctly and fits the fridge but fails the DRM verification. When contacted they suggested I "hack" the product by removing the RFID tag from my old filter and applying it to the new one.
