My husband and I had been searching for a puppy for quite some time and ran across the site socialgoldenretrievers.com The site appeared to be legit so we contacted the guy who called himself Johnson Lionel through his email [email protected] for more information. He answered all our questions and gave us more information about the "puppy" He said he was located in NC and offered to ship to us. We were hesitant about the idea of having our puppy shipped at first so we told him we would rather drive to pick him up. He asked us when we would like to come and acted as if that was no issue. After my husband and I talked we decided if he could answer some more of our questions and provide us with both photos and videos of the dog we may be open to shipping. We wanted to avoid travel due to COVID-19 and decided it was best for us to take advantage of the shipping. He started texting us from the number to send photos 1(832)583-0413 and provided us with both photos and videos of a puppy. After more conversation with him he told us we would need to fill out and sign a bill of sale and make a payment. We did and sent him $600 for this "puppy" After that had been done, he later told us the puppy would be shipped to us the very next day. That's when we got skeptical, knowing that arrangements to ship a puppy take longer than one day to prepare. My husband went online and ended up finding an identical site called readygoldenretrievers.com and later found stories from people who had also used social golden retrievers who also got scammed. They listed from start to finish exactly what happened with him and it identically matched our story. Some people have even gone to meet him to pick up the puppy only to find out he had given them a fake address, others said they were provided with a shipment tracker and never saw a puppy at the airport. We immediately reached out to the guy to cancel our order once we realized the payment had already gone through. We acted as if all was normal and just said unfortunately we need to cancel our order for "leo" the puppy because a family emergency had come up. He assured us we would be refunded no problem. To this day we have not seen our money and can not get it back from the bank since it was a ZELLE payment through BB&T and showed up as an authorized charge. His email on ZELLE showed up as [email protected] with the name Padro Lopez. We hope that this site gets shut down to prevent other people from getting scammed as well. We have filed a police report and reported on the FBI internet scam page as well.
