I have all the cards, plus receipt from Best Buy ($500 for the niece) and a digital receipt from Apple ($300) for the uncle. Instead of working on my own business this duo kept pestering me and lured me into doing this when I was very stressed and tired trying to start my own legitimate business.
The 11 cards, Apple and Steam (10), $500 in value were on my personal Chase credit card. The one card for the uncle, $300 was on my new Chase business credit card.
I am not one to buy gift cards ever really, and usually just buy physical merchandise so I didn’t know this was a common scam until I looked it up on Google today.
The messaging first started with “****** ****** ******** sometime around the end of 2023 and I was already wary.

This person behind this account eventually befriended me and kept urging me to speak to her uncle who was a business man. I finally did so over the weekend and that’s when they both suddenly started asking for favors. They were bothering me a lot and honestly was sketched out, but I wanted them to not harass me or even stalk me so I bought the cards really hesitantly.

I have receipts. I did not use these cards. They were given to these two individuals. Now they have stopped messaging me but now I know it is a scam so reporting it <24 hours after it happened.
