Social Media Pet Scam Reports & Reviews (1)

- Leesburg, FL, USA • Jan 18, 2024

I saw a Facebook Page called Lylah’s Golden Retriever puppies for sale and adoption. I sent a Facebook messenger on January 5th, 2024 to the contact person inquiring about a female golden retriever puppy. She said she had one available and that I could pick it up on Saturday. She said I would need to pay a $250.00 deposit to hold the puppy. I asked if I could just pay all at once when we came to pick up the puppy. She said no, that I would need to send a deposit via google or apple pay. My husband set up a google pay account and she sent us an e-mail to send the deposit to. She said we would need to send her a screenshot after payment had been made. We sent the payment on Tuesday, January 9th, 2024 and also sent her a screenshot showing the payment was made. I didn’t hear back from her. I messaged her again and asked if she received the payment and asked when I would have an address for pick up. She said she was at work but that she would have someone check at home. I asked her about it the next morning and never received a response back. I then told her I realized it was a scam and that I was going to report her. I saw on her Facebook page that she listed puppies for sale (a new post) so I commented on her page that I sent a $250.00 deposit and never heard back from her. She deleted my post. My husband went to her Facebook page and commented and they removed his comment and also blocked him.
