I received an automated call from a human sounding person named Audrey. She said their records showed I (not by name but just whoever answered the phone at this business) had inquired about social security disability. Then she said, "Can you hear me ok?" Before I could stop myself, I said "yes" and then quickly followed with "no" and hung up. It was too late when I remembered hearing about a scam to get people to say "yes" and then using a recording of their voice to sign them up for things costing money. I called the number back to see what the name of the company was and hopefully verify it's legitimacy or lack thereof. The answering machine said something to the effect of, "If you missed a call from this number, we were trying to reach you about an insurance or warrantee issue." They gave no identifying information about who they are. I hung up and decided to report them because the reason they originally called me did not match what the answering machine said. I will monitor all my accounts closely moving forward. I have a hard time believing they can do much without other personal information but still it's awfully suspect. In the nest question on this report about personally identifiable information, I checked yes because they have my voice, but none of the other info listed.

I filled out an application for SS disability on line; a week later they called saying they were with

Social Security & needed to ask some questions; they were yes or no questions & I said yes, then

my wife grabbed the phone & asked for the person's name & they hung up. We called back the

number & got a recording which then hung up. We punched in the name of the company that was

on the caller ID and there was an official looking website for the number. Then we called from a

different phone & no one answered, it just kept ringing. I can't remember the name of the website,

but it started Social Security Disability....Administration? Can't remember the last word. Sounded official.
