Received a call from a Chinese/Japanese speaking woman calling me by name and asked if I had a paper Social Security card. When I answered yes she indicated that Social Security was issuing plastic cards with a chip in them so that whenever I needed to provide a Social Security card for any transactions it would be read with the chip and then proceeded to ask me for my Social Security number so that the card could be made and sent to me. I told her she was full of it & hung up on her.

Didn’t hear phone call and did not answer, but the call went directly through to my voice mail. Phone call did not get listed on my list of calls received and the caller ID in my voice mail stated “Unknown.” The call was a recorded message saying my case was under investigation with my business bureau and the financial crime investigation network stating that they have reason to believe it is a case of identity thief. It continued saying if you think this is an error, you may connect now to a Social Security Administration officer if you press one now. Definite scam. The phone number finally came up only when I went to block the caller.

- Cary, NC, USA

This individual left an automated voice recording that my social security information had been hacked and I should call back immediately. I knew it was a spam call, so I called back to see response. A live person answered and said he was with the social security administration. I told him I knew this was a scam and take me off the list. He then cussed at me and asked why I called back if it was a scam, then hung up. I called back and same person answered and cussed at me again and asked why I was calling if I was going to report him to the BBB.

Received call from someone claiming to be from the social security ad. Stating I was under investigation for drug trafficking and money laundering. Asked for name and last four of SS.

My elderly father in law received a robocall and a message was left. He called the number back and while on the phone with the person claiming to be the Social Security Administration, he gave his full date of birth and Social Security number. He has come to ask my husband a question about a bank while on the phone and he went back to the call. I thought that something was not correct and my husband got involved on the call. The caller hung up once my husband got involved.
