The scam started early in the morning where I was getting phone texts saying that my card was being charged for x.xx amount of dollars. I immediately responded, "no" to the text, "was this you making this purchase?" Then later in the day around 8 in the morning, I got a few more, and of course did the same thing, and proceeded to open my account afterwards and freeze my card. It happened one more time. Then, I got a phone call, by an as we know an "impostor" for the company. He then began asking me questions about my account and I already knew that once he started asking me questions about a 6 digit code to gain access to my account it was fraud, and the individual was trying to gain total control of my account. He requested an amount of 6,000$'s from one account and tried to transfer it to another account to where he can withdraw that money. The Sofi text alert clearly states, "Sofi will never ask you for the 6 digit code on a call, """""NOT INITIATED BY YOU""""" so right then I knew. He was feeding me some false information to get the 6 digit code to gain access to my account on or by computer or phone. If that does occur you would have to be careful because they can add themselves to your account joint holder, and can freely do as they please, so don't give it to them. I would say up your card and account security measures because you never really know who is trying to steal from you, it can be the people closest to you, and they would do it right under your nose. Luckily my security on my card and account stopped it all, even though they did manage to move that amount of money from one account to another. Always stay on top of your money, and never put all your money in one place! That's my rule of thumb! Because if one becomes compromised, you always have a backup account to sustain you until the fraud team figures out what's going on.
