My elderly parents called Southside Appliances to repair their dryer. They were told an estimate would cost 85.00. When the crook got there he repaired the dryer and said the washer also needed repairs. He proceeded to fix the appliances charging my parents 635.00 for the repairs of the washer and dryer. He first asked for cash only to eliminate theGST, then my parents said no. He then asked them to give a blank cheque with the amount on it only. They agreed and asked for a receipt. He gave a store bought receipt without his business name on it, and did not give detailed list of cost of items and labour. It simply said 635.00 owing.

My sister and I took his business cards he gave mom and dad and traced online and physically went to his address to confront him about this receipt and work on the above address. To only find out that this is an empty office with nothing there. We see now on your sight the same company lists the address as 6008A-107 Street which we traced to a residential house.

We called them to meet them at their address and we were told their on the road. We repeated the call to them and they put it to voice mail.

This company takes advantage of the elderly, lies about their business address, asks elderly for blank cheques and does not itemize their receipts properly.

Time to stop this elderly abuse by this company!

We are checking at the bank to confirm who cashed this cheque and did they adjust the amount on the cheque as well.

Please register this problem so other seniors and families don't fall into the same trap
