Signed a contract for the construction of an in-law suite addition on my home. The contractor collected periodic payments totalling $88,442.50 and told me he was using the funds to order material. 3 months later, he became unresponsive and I discovered materials were not ordered, and no work had been completed. I do have an attorney involved in the civil matter to pursue my refund. His unresponsiveness has left me very unclear about his motives or intentions with this, and the purpose of my post is simply to help raise awareness to the situation in case it can help anyone else in the future. I've spoke with multiple other people who have reported similar situations with the same person, which led me to think this would be an appropriate forum to help spread the awareness.
