Type of a scam Debt Collections
"Hello this is SPD Consumer processing. Today we are contacting you to inform you that it is important to not take these calls lightly because you may have some preconceived notion as to the reason for this contact. We assure you -- your information has been provided and verified by the Social Security number of the direct party we are trying to reach. To receive full disclosure to the full nature of our contact, you will need to call our offices directly...."
Before I called back, I checked with my hospital to verify that they sent a debt to this agency, which they negated. The hospital billing staff gave me detailed information on who and where to contact. I informed both the hospital and the legitimate collections agency about this voicemail and they both said it is not allowed for debt collectors to be aggressive, or for them to leave voicemails.
The hospital and legit agency both recommended I submit this to the BBB. I also looked online to research the number that they called from, and many others have reported this same fraudulent, aggressive caller.
