I thought I was calling Spectrum, my internet provider to inform them that I had a new debit card because I have auto pay with them. They asked what my monthly bill was and I told them. He put me on hold . Then he asked for my debit card number, which I gave him. I was put on hold again. He came back on and asked it I was still there and I said yes. Then an alert from my bank came on notifying me of an $80.06 charge. The person on the other end wanted me to push yes. I asked him what the charge was for. He said it was for an April payment and a March payment I told him my payments are $49.99 a month which doesn’t even add up to $80.06. He then said it was his mistake and would put it back. He asked me several times to hit that yes key to indicate the transaction was good but I refused.I hit the no button and my bank immediately called. After speaking with my bank, it turns out they took out $83 dollars and change three times and $53 and change twice each time they put me on hold, probably. I was told I was actually speaking to a company called Macro in South Africa.
