I contacted Spectrum to disconnect my service. Their automated chatbot said: "At this time, chat agents are unable to cancel services. To remove Internet, TV, home or phone service, please call us at 833-267-6094 and say "disconnect service". When I called the number, no one identified themselves as from Spectrum. Instead they said that I was eligible to win $100 to any online store like Walmart, Target, etc. I asked "is this spectrum?" instead of yes or no, they said once you give us your information we can give you the number you're looking for. Later on, I googled "spectrum customer service" and got a different number. I called the phone number from google, a Spectrum agent answered and said that she thought the chat bot was interrupted by scammers. I spoke with the scammer for 7 minutes trying to get more information, but the same script was repeated about the "customer being eligible to win $100" and they said "anyone can call in".

Spectrum left me a voice message telling about a deal that would reduce by bill by 50%. So I called the number and the deal was that if I purchased 500 dollars target gift cards I would get 50% of my bill for 2 years. So, I went to Walgreens and purchased the gift cards and called the number 855-269-5493. I dialed #1 for to pay a bill. I read off the numbers on the gift cards and I was put on hold. I was told I would get a confirmation number in a couple of hours. Instead I got a text message that there was a problem with my payment. I called and was told that Walgreens would not honor the gift cards and that I had to buy cards from pick and save instead. I was told I would receive a 500 dollar refund and a visa card for 100 dollars. I went to buy cards at pick and save. I came home and called gave them the numbers and they got back to me that I was suppossed to call from the parking lot. They did say something about that. But I ignored it. So then I had to go back and buy 500 dollars more of cards from pick and save. I called from tht parking lot and waited for a confirmation number. The guy got back to me from Spectrum asking me if I had gotten a secret code when I first called. He said it had some letters and numbers in it. So I looked at my notes and yes I did have a code they gave me. He said that I was supposed to tell them the code before I gave him the numbers on the gift cards. I said why didn't you tell my about the code? He said it was a secret code that I was supposed give them right away before I gave them the gift card numbers. that is when I got mad and claimed that it was a scam. I ended up in an argument with the man and hung up. Then I got a text saying that I was being charged 2000 dollars and to call them. (Even though I only spent 1500 dollars) So I called and they told me that I couldn't have a refund that I had to make a purchase. I at the time agreed to go back but my husband stopped me and said it was a scam. So, I never went back to buy more cards.
