Initially, I got a collections letter from this “company,” and so I called because the letter said that $899 was borrowed from me, which wasn’t true. When I called the first time, there were a few red flags where they didn’t have the correct phone number, and my date of birth was incorrect. They passed me off to a manager, and he told me that I would have to call the company that originated this “loan,” and I called them, and found it had been sold to another company, and they told me to go back to the collections company. I have called this “collections” company 3 times now, trying to get them to send me paperwork showing actually who filled out this supposed paperwork, each time telling me to call back because they were trying to obtain the paperwork themselves. They did get a little squirrely when I told them I needed the paperwork to take to my local police station, to open a fraud case. The last time I called was back in February, and I haven’t called back since, and they have not reached out to me. I feel like this is a total scam, that they send you this bogus paperwork, and then try to get even more of your personal information.
