This number called both me and a family member. They left a message stating "This is a message for.... This is an attempt to inform you of a matter my office is looking to discuss with yourself or with your attorney. Failure to respond may result in further action made to resolve this issue. Please contact my office directly at 443-227-4975 providing reference number of ***.
I attempted to call the number back and got a man on the phone who asked if he was speaking with the correct person, I said yes. He then wanted me to confirm the last four digits of my social security number, when I refused he would not tell me why he was calling, what the issue was or provide any information. All he said was the company was SPS. I said please mail something to my home address, he stated they have already tried to deliver by courier. I said no they haven't he hung up.
I get similar calls every year around tax time from many different phone numbers. This is the first for this phone number

Received numerous calls from claiming I would be served legal papers by someone named "Brian Rivers" between the hours of 3-5pm at my residence or workplace. "Brian Rivers" also called my mother and my husband advising the same information about me. I looked up the caller's phone number and found out it is a web-based number, like a Skype number and not associated with an address. I called the number, heard some hold music immediately, then someone answers with fake sounding names. I called a few times and spoke to someone named Joseph Reed and another person named Lindsay Morgan. I requested the company name each time and both of those individuals told me it was "SPS". I asked what SPS stands for and they said "nothing, it stands for nothing, it's just SPS". Finding this odd, I asked for their corporate mailing address and phone number. Joseph said, "why are you going to mail us something"? I said, well, possibly, can you please provide the information? He advised he could not give me that information due to irate people like me and his safety. I said okay and hung up. I called back again and got another person (do not have this name) and asked again for the company name, mailing address and phone number. The person quickly blurted "SPS" and stated he could not give me the address for legal reasons. I hung up. At this point I had not given them any information (they had provide a file number on the voicemail from Brian Rivers). I called again and this time decided to give the person the file number. They had my name, address, phone number (obviously) and the last four digits of my SS#. They told me I owed a debt to a credit card company I did not recognize and told me they needed to get a statement from me about it. I told them I did not recognize the debt and would need to research it and contact the company claiming I owe them money. "SPS" told me I would just end up right back to them and it was a waste of time. I have tried to find information about SPS in Maryland who claims to be a "mediation" company and so far have come up with nothing. I believe this could be a scam.
