I was under the impression that I was buying art work from a local based independent painter, as well as some equipment and supplies. He impersonated an employee from , https://www.theartisttree.com/artists , a store that sells local handmade artwork. I believed I was communicating with and working with an liaison from the store who was going to ship out my new pieces of art. He said he was able to ship out the David Marchetti Echinacea that I was interested in. We communicated back and forth via phone number (424) 224-9212 for a few days. I have his email as well, [email protected] , but we did not communicate via email really.
They convinced me that the artist would be getting the funds directly and that’s why I was required to use the cash app method. This person said they will ship out my items overnight via fedex, but I was given a tracking number from a different courier called, https://whitslecouriers.com/track-and-trace/ . I went to track my items, and went to contact someone from This “company” , and they told me that since my items were shipped out as discrete and paid with bitcoin, my items required an additional 249.99 insurance fee to have the package delivered. The chat rep on the whitsle couriers did mention a couple of times that this fee was refundable and not to worry, etc... I paid it, thinking this was going to be it. But fourty minutes later, they were demanding a 179.99 lease stamp fee, citing government requirements § 9- 407 Restrictions on creation or enforcement of security interest in le[censored]d interest or in lessor’s residual interest.
Once I received this message, I knew something was off and I just got scammed by someone.
Please, anything you can do to help me recover my money back. I also reported this to the FTC, I really hope there is justice and/or karma to this impersonator. If they are doing this to me, then well it angers me so much to know how many other people they are doing this to.
I included the few photos I have og my conversations with this person. The first seven photos are of Spenser and I talking about the shipment of my items. The remaining twenty-seven or so photos are of this courier and I.
Thank you for your time today.

I was talking with a person who introduced himself as Stephen Latrille , phone number 1 (424) 224-9212 . They assured my they can send medical equipment, devices and medial marijuana to other states as well as locally. I was skeptical about things, but they continued to reinforce that they are easily able to ship anything anywhere. This was helpful as i was interested, but because i never worked with them i was trying to get as much information as possible.
The person only communicated through mobile application ' WhatsApp' , and they only wanted to accept payment via bit coin or cash app. They led me to believe that the items would be fedex overnight, and everything would be covered.
I ended up getting suckered into paying for some items, which came out to $330 dollars. Then the person used a completely different shipping company then originally agreed upon. This shipping company, https://whitslecouriers.com , then instructed me that i would have to pay an extra $250 dollars for an insurance fee, and that 95% would be refunded upon delivery.
The items were no where to be found, and I have been scammed out of nearly 580 dollars and i need help recovering my money, and i to report this scamming person to be sure this never happens to anyone again.
