The initial contact was via a Craigslist ad, the post can't be linked because it was removed very shortly after we contacted them. We agreed to a $150 deposit via CashApp and then we would be meeting them to pickup the cat on 12/20/2022. On 12/20/22, the person contacted us to let us know they had a family emergency and would be shipping the cat via a company called "Stairhopper Movers", and they claimed the cat would be delivered on 12/20/22, later the same day. They requested we pay the remaining amount since the cat would be there that day, we refused since that was not the agreement that had been made. They provided a shipping receipt, but only after we requested it. That receipt shows https://stairhoppermover.com as the company website address. That website is not the website for the actual shipping company, "Stairhopper Movers", and the website shown on the shipping receipt shows a home in CA as the business' address. We were unable to contact the business, the phone went to a Google voicemail with no recorded message. Several images on the website also appear to be stolen from other company's websites.

The person tried to get us to pay the remaining agreed upon amount after providing the shipping receipt, which we again refused. They suggested setting the delivery up as CoD, which we said we would agree to, they did not set that up. Then, in the middle of the night, they started texting again, trying to get us to pay the remaining amount, despite the package not showing up when they claimed it would.

We have reported the deposit that was made on CashApp as a scam and told the person not to contact us further.
