I discussed with an alleged breeder about adopting a kitten. I paid the adoption fee $840 on 4/23 and was contacted by the shipping company advising I would receive the kitten by 4/25 in the morning. The morning of 4/24 I was contacted advising I needed to rent a temperature controlled kennel $2,000 and the cost would be refunded once I received the kitten. I paid the funds and the morning of 4/25 I was contacted again stating the vet records provided with the kitten were not acceptable and the kitten needed to be tested for vaccinations and needed a pet permit which would cost $2,610 and would be refunded as well and I would receive the kitten by 5pm that evening. The kitten did not arrive and I was told the flight was delayed and the kitten would be delivered to me by 2pm 4/26. At 2pm on 4/26 I was sent another email stating the kitten did not have insurance and I must pay another $1,500 and then I would recieve the kitten. I called the representative and requested a refund because I was being overcharged for a service I was not receiving and they were taking money from me with no intention of providing me with the kitten I purchased and I was going to report their scam to my bank if they would not provide me with a refund. The transportation representative grew irate when I asked him for the address of their company and asked to speak to another representative. Another person answered and kept telling me I will get arrested if I don't make the payment and would be charged with animal abandonment. He agreed to return my funds but has not. The "breeder" also contacted me by phone and said the exact same things verbatim. That I was going to be arrested and I would need to pay and would be reimbursed but gave no guarantees for my consumer protection if the kitten did not arrive. I advised I would report their fraudulent websites and would contest the charges as I have not received the kitten and was being charged for a service I was not being provided.
