I was contacted by a company going by the name State Employees Credit union saying that I had been approved for a loan for 5,000.00 but that in order to raise my credit score the company was going to pay off one of my credit cards to boost my score. this action was taken but rather than receive the 5,000.00 $ Which I was to use to pay the company back for clearing my credit card I was contacted and asked to money gram 500$ to the company as a first payment then my funds would be released. I did this and at that point the gentleman hung up and I received a call immediately from another person saying that I had been scammed for the 500$ and that I still needed to pay them the money in order to get my initial loan amount. I called my credit card company and they said that my card had been paid off but that the company that paid it had been suspected of scams in the past. I then returned the all and told the gentleman that I would not be sending any money grams but would happily mail them a check if they sent me a bill via the mail. he got very angry and aggressive saying that I had stolen their money and I needed to return the entire amount immediately or they would contact the police. I am in the process of working with my bank and credit card company to see what to do next but until then I have received over 50 calls from the 2 phone numbers involved and have kept track of the calls but have not picked up. I am not sure the exact nature of the scam but neither party will answer any questions I have about the original loan and keep insisting I send them the money back for the credit card payment in cash or money gram and refuse to give any other information.
