Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order
Message from a woman who said to message someone on the signal app. The gentle man goes by the name Mr. Aaron Hutchison. He then conducted the “interview” on the Singal app via text no phone calls or video calls first hint that this was a scam. After the “interview” was over he responded back stating I have the job and they wanted to move forward. He then said they were going to send me a check that I was to use to buy the necessary equipment and software to do the work for them. The check came in 24 hours later drawn out of Minnesota but sent from New York another hint it was a scam. When I received the check in the mail I was a message to go out and get the package then open it up and take a picture of the check. I questioned him as to why I had to take a picture his response was you’re not following directions. I then contacted my bank to check to see if the check was real or fake they couldn’t give me a definitive answer so I reached out to the “bank“ who issued the check and they then confirmed that the check is in fact fake.
