We heard about Stephen Christopher Reed through a neighbor who used him for some minor home repair. We called him about a porch remodel. He is very likable and claims to have a college education, be a hard worker, a single dad with three kids, etc. He showed us pictures of work he claimed he did. He showed us his class A contractor license which we now know was fake. He showed us that he was licensed and insured which is false. He doesn't even have a business license for the city of Suffolk. He showed us his A+ rating with the BBB which he isn't even listed under. He gave us quotes for the remodel was initially 24K and he was able to get it to 16K. We opted not to do it because it was still too much for us. He constantly called us about the job. We had a repair that needed to be done on a rental. He accepted the siding job and we wrote him a check for half ($500) for materials. Three weeks later no work was done. We called he said he was gone 2 weeks for a funeral. A week later he claimed to be on a job in northern Virginia. I called again his wife answered and said he was at the grocery store. And yeah, found out you can be married, living with your wife and still call yourself a single parent. We asked for our money back. He said he'd have to return material. He has claimed for three weeks that the check is in the mail. I gave him the choice of returning our money or going to court and the BBB. Two months have passed since we wrote him and check so we went to the city. His company "C & S Remodeling" filed to be under the service agent "INCorp Service Inc. @ 7288 Hanover Green Dr. Mechanisville, VA 233111" in November 2016. But InCorp closed in June 2012. So if you try to collect from Stephen there is not person associated with either business and there's no one to serve so you are wasting your money to file with the courts. Upon further inspection, Stephen Christopher Reed has a long history of felony, theft, fraud and assault. Found his mug shots and ripoff report. He moves frequently so good luck in tracking him down and seeing your money again.
