Type of a scam Fake Invoice/Supplier Bill
Dennis Browning is the Treasurer of the Oil Information Library of Fort Worth.
On 9/20/2018, Dennis Browning received an email from Jack Deans [email protected]. Assuming Jack needed to reimburse a vendor, Mr. Browning requested additional information from Jack. Correspondence from the fake email sent Steve Krier's information (this appears to be a legitimate person and address); but preferred Pay Pal. Since Mr. Browning did not have access to the library's Pay Pal account, the fake email requested a check payment.
Discussion with the real Jack Deans revealed the fraudulent email.
Mr. Browning told the fake email that he would send a check first thing Monday morning the 24th. Of course this will not happen.
