I recieved an email about an Office Assistant position that I wanted to apply to. Little did I know, this would turn out to be a SCAM. "Irma Bobadilla" sent me an email saying "Thank you so much for your interest in the job ,Unfortunately this role is no longer available , however we have a personal assistant role available for $650-700 every week , if interested kindly send an email to [email protected] with subject titled PERSONAL ASSISTANT ROLE." With sign off title being Irma Bobadilla SCSEP/Case Manager, with the address as 155 W. Main Street, El Centro, CA 92243.
So with that information I was a little sketch from the jump but I needed a job and it sounded like a good opportunity. So once sending my Resume out to a "Steven Pellerin," that's when it got a little more sketchy. His grammar was off, claimed to be a 54 year old retired engineer who was in Canada at the moment and needed a personal assistant. He also claimed that he would schedule an in person interview once he returned. He said he was very impressed by my resume and that I was hired for the job eventually. I have proof of these via email. Unfortunately, I did send copies of my driver license at some point thinking it was for the hiring process as stated. Then he asked for the login information to my ID.me account stating he needed to pull the information but I did not give him access and changed the password immediately. Here's what really got me suspicious. He said he needed to create an office account for me through google and that he needed to use my phone number for the security code. I did some research and found that only one phone number can be linked to a google account, and not two at a time. That is when I discovered that he was attempting to log into my PERSONAL EMAIL. Just sending the codes to my phone so that he can reset and lock me out of my account but I did not fall for this and blocked the number he was texting me from immediately. I also looked up this scam on ScamPulse.com using "Steven Pellerin" as a keyword and sure enough this has happened to someone else but it went a lot further with her. I was able to catch and stop it, however, they do still have the front and back of my Driver License and I may have to take proper steps to be sure that they cannot access anything using it.
Background: I applied for an office assistant position for "SACKETT RANCH INC" on Indeed, and received the message below (also the first attached image.)
"Hello,
Thank you so much for your interest in the job , Sackett Ranch, Inc. wants an Office assistant who can handle the Job of our employee who were affected with Covid-19. kindly forward your resume sackettranchranch At gmail.com

After research, it appears "Sackett Ranch Inc" is a legit business unrelated to this scam. I believe the company's name was used as a front, and the Indeed page with the job has since been deleted. So, I sent my resume to the email above stating my intentions.
I was then sent an email this morning (outside of Indeed's messaging system) in relation to the position stated exactly as the first poster above quoted, saying
"Hello,
Thank you so much for your interest in the job ,Unfortunately this role is no longer available , however we have a personal assistant role available for $650-700 every week and is it a remote job, if interested kindly send an email to [email protected] with subject titled PERSONAL ASSISTANT ROLE.

After again sending my resume to a new email, I received a message from "Steven Pellerin." All of the information from the original post is the same so I will spare the details. But, I would like to add that after listing roles of a personal assistant and giving himself a background, "Steven" mentioned that my follow up email should list personal information including:

It a remote position.
My name is Steven Pellerin. I'm a retired engineer and I have been a local and international successful entrepreneur, I presently deal into Forex Trading which deals with Stock Exchange.
I will maintain a fair degree of flexibility in terms of working around your other commitments. I will provide clear set of instructions for each task I need done and sufficient funds to cover all errands.
Currently, I am in Ontario meeting with business partners. I will be back by month end to arrange a formal interview with you and for necessary paperwork.
Please note that this position is not office-based for now because of my frequent travels and tight schedules. It is a part-time job, and some weeks you will be busier than others, although the pay stays constant. I do have a number of things you could help me with this week if you will be within reach for me.
The pay is $650 weekly and you can to get to work at your flexible hours as this means this won’t affect your present job already if you have one.

After googling his name and email address I came across this post about the situation. I'm grateful this is out there and I hope my input could help anyone that may be in the same situation. Stay safe out there everyone :)
