I was contacted by a James Morrison by text message. (1-830-340-6068). He posed as a recruiter for Steward Health Care and sent me an email about a Data Entry Clerk job opening that I had applied for. I do not remember applying for the job but I’m job hunting so I thought that I had just forgotten applying for that position. He directed me to an interview with a David Alvarez through the Teams app. The interview seemed real, the questions were normal interview questions. I was offered the job and sent the start up paperwork. After filling everything out and sending it back David said that the company would be sending me a check to cover appliances through my email. I found that very suspicious. He said that the accounting department would send me a check and then I needed to deposit it through my banking app. I asked if I could take it to my bank and he said no that I was not to take it to a bank it had to be done online. He wanted me to deposit the check online, go to the company vendor website to buy the equipment from the company with the company’s money. At this point I was very suspicious and ended the conversation. The “check” that was sent looks very generic and I don’t understand why the company would not send me equipment. Why would I have to buy it from them with a check they provided? Everything seemed very normal up until that point. This scam is very detailed. They sent me a job offer with the logo for the real Steward Health Care company. They even took the real company’s about section and put it into the job description email. Everything about the job looked real until they sent me the check. Beware of this scam and do not make the mistake I did. Don’t send them any personal information!
