Car Wrap/ decal offer

Was contacted via text from a Brian Hodges offering a car decal job that pays $1000 + $50 gas allowance. The check would come via USPS. The check amount is $4,465 drawn on Webster Bank in Waterbury, CT from the Department of Finance in New London, CT. Looks legit. My wife & I live in East Haven, CT. We would deposit said check, take our cut, then send a bank check to another address for the installer to come & install the decal. That part had me puzzled.

Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order

Had a product up on a selling app called offer up. The scammer wanted to buy the product and have me send it to him through the mail. He ended up sending me a check to cover the cost of the item and of shipping it. The check was a little over $1,000 more then what was needed. After contacting him about receiving the check he already knew he had sent too much and he wanted me to send the difference back to him. That seemed odd to me so I decided to report it.
