The offer letter gave a list of supplies that I would need in order to work from home and explained that I would receive a check in the mail to purchase the supplies. I tried to call the number but it was a text only subscription number. The "Vendor" of the office supplies then contacted me via text saying they could send the supplies overnight if I give 50% of the payment.
There were suspicious things, such as no verbal interactions, very American names with strange English errors, such as weird grammar but no spelling mistakes. But when they asked me for money I was then sure it was a scam. I confronted the vendor and he said, "great, thanks." I received a check via Fedex from First Commerce Credit Union for $6587.24. I was directed to cash the cashier's check and pay for the office supplies to the Vendor. We then called the Better Business Bureau because it was outlandish at this point.
