St Joseph Center states it provides first month rent and deposit for families facing homelessness. I was facing homelessness and visited their location seeking support. I was told to move immediately and that St. Joseph Center would pay my first month's rent and deposit to my new landlord. Once I moved St. Joseph's stopped returning phone calls and emails. I went in person seeking help with getting my payments and was told by the Regional Coordinator that there actually wasn't any money but they could find it, and while I waited they would contact my landlord and inform him of the forthcoming payments. They made contact with my landlord and left a message but when he called back they never called him back and it's now been two weeks since the coordinator has responded. I believe St. Joseph Center is operating a scam on the basis of seeking to raise numbers of people served by their organization illegally and unethically, while at the same time denying them service. In the end I am now behind in rent by two months for a total of $5200.
